For our sixth game of the season, we travelled to face the unpredictable Ořechov reserve team, a club that certainly knows how to plan its home fixtures well. But if you want to play good football, you have to be able to deal with whatever comes your way — in this case, that also meant facing five Ořechov players who had been listed in yesterday’s 6th-tier match against Troubsko and came along today to play against us.
So it definitely wasn’t an easy game. From the very beginning, the match had plenty of intensity, with a high tempo and an entertaining overall flow. It soon became clear that whoever scored the first goal would take control of the game.
Fortunately, that was us. Just before half-time, Štěpán gave the home goalkeeper absolutely no chance with a beautiful long-range strike!
Ořechov had no choice but to push harder in the second half, which inevitably meant leaving more space at the back. They were punished just five minutes after the restart, when Štěpán played a long ball down the left to the onrushing Míra, who added our second goal and gave us some breathing room.
The home side didn’t give up, though. They created several chances, some of them very clear ones, and that is certainly something we should learn from. Fortunately for us, they wasted them all — sometimes almost unbelievably.
The comeback goal never arrived, and substitute Tenzi eventually put the finishing touch on the match. He raced clear, tortured everyone’s nerves with a few cheeky moves, sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and eventually rolled the ball past him into the empty net.
If he hadn’t scored that one, he’d have been sent straight back home to the Himalayas as food for the vultures… 😂
Sorry, Tenzi — I just had to! 😜🤣
